Tan Choon Ghee (1930-2010)
I remember him as my first art teacher.
I attended his weekly water colour classes when I was a little kid growing up in Penang. His style inspired legions of water colour artists – many of them are well established artists now, and many had their roots in Mr Tan’s living room, painting week after week under his watchful eyes.
Sadly I haven’t dabbled with water colour for years. One of those things which I miss doing in life.
Tan’s passing away brought back vivid memories of the childhood I cherish.
The much respected teacher will be sorely missed by many Penangnites.

A tribute to the greatest artist in Malaysia. A usually modest artist who chose to live in small town of Penang has passed away due to poor health.
